Gunmen abduct nine Kogi travellers, demand N2.6m ransom

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped nine travellers in Oshokoshoko, along the Kabba/Obajana/Lokoja Road in Kogi State.

The incident was said to have occurred last Saturday between 4pm and 5pm.

According to a report gathered by Punch Newspaper it was gathered that those kidnapped included two students, three women and four men.

The victims were said to have taken off from the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall, Kabba.

Elupo Eliazer, a person with disability, whose wife is among the victims, said that the kidnappers have called to demand N30m but later reduced it to N2.6m after negotiation.

My wife and I were travelling to attend our church convention scheduled for Lokoja, but I decided to follow a different vehicle as the Toyota could not contain all of us, else I would have been in the car with her,” he explained.

He said that the vehicle his wife was travelling in was ahead of the one he was in but all the occupants of the vehicle had been led into the bush by the time his vehicle got to the spot

Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, promised to find out and get back with the details later.

He has, however, yet to do so as of the time of filing this report
