Governor Adeleke Travels to U.S. for Davido’s Wedding, Assures Osun Residents of Continued Governance

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is currently in the United States to attend the upcoming wedding of his nephew and award-winning musician, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

The international wedding ceremony, which has drawn widespread attention, is set to take place in Miami, Florida, this August. Davido had earlier confirmed the event during an April interview on The Breakfast Club, a U.S.-based radio show, stating that he and his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, would officially celebrate their white wedding in 2025.

The governor’s travel sparked speculation about his whereabouts, prompting a response from his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed. In a statement released on Tuesday, Rasheed clarified that Adeleke departed Nigeria a few days earlier aboard the family’s private jet to be present for the family event.

He noted that the governor extended an open invitation to members of the public, including political opponents, to join in celebrating the moment, either in person or virtually.

“Governor Adeleke left Nigeria for the United States via the family’s private jet a few days ago for the wedding of the global music icon, his beloved nephew, David Adeleke,” Rasheed said.

He also addressed concerns regarding governance during Adeleke’s absence, emphasizing that the governor remains actively engaged with state affairs and is in constant communication with Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, who is overseeing day-to-day operations.

Since assuming office in November 2022, the governor has not taken an official vacation, the statement noted. Rasheed added that this trip would be a short one, with Adeleke expected to return shortly to resume physical duties.

The governor’s decision to attend the wedding comes amid political scrutiny from the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which had raised questions about his travel and transparency. However, his media team insists the trip is strictly personal and does not interfere with governance.

As the Adeleke family prepares for what is expected to be a star-studded celebration, the governor’s camp is working to assure Osun residents that leadership continuity is intact during his absence.
