Future Eagles beat Cyprus, draw with Pakistan at FIFA U-15 Festival

Nigeria’s Future Eagles secured a win and a draw in their latest outings at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, defeating Cyprus 2-1 before playing out a 1-1 draw with Pakistan on Monday.

The Nigerian side rallied from a goal down to overcome Cyprus, with Wisdom Oche and substitute Timothy Ijach finding the net.

Georgios Christodoulou put Cyprus ahead in the 12th minute, but Oche equalised five minutes later. Ijach then scored in the 26th minute to complete Nigeria’s comeback and seal the victory.

The Future Eagles, however, could not maintain their winning momentum against Pakistan, settling for a draw despite creating chances to claim all three points.

The result prevented Nigeria from recording consecutive victories as they struggled to match the attacking sharpness displayed in their opening game.

The matches provided the young Nigerians with valuable international experience as they continue to develop their skills and compete against opponents from other countries.

The Future Eagles will aim to build on their victory over Cyprus while improving on the areas exposed in the draw against Pakistan as the tournament progresses.
