Super Eagles have 19 players in camp ahead of Russia friendly

Nineteen players have assembled in Nizhny Novgorod as the Super Eagles complete preparations for Tuesday’s international friendly against Russia.

Nigeria’s squad has been affected by injuries and the unavailability of players whose clubs declined to release them for the fixture. Captain Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Akpe are sidelined with injuries, while Bright Osayi-Samuel, Raphael Onyedika and Ridwan Abdulrasaq Popoola were unable to travel after their clubs blocked their release.

FC Rostov forward Ibraheem Ajasa, who received a late call-up, joined the squad on Monday to take the number of players in camp to 19.

The Super Eagles are scheduled to hold their final training session tonight ahead of the encounter at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, which will begin at 5pm Nigerian time.

Players in camp: Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Stanley Nwabali, Kelechi Iheanacho, Emmanuel Fernandez, Benjamin Frederick, Wilfred Igor, Samuel James, Kenneth Igboke, Chibuzor Nwoko, Umar Abubakar, Peter Edokpolor, Abdullahi Bewene, Umar Abdullai, Atata Michael, Aderemi Adeoye, Isaac James, Michael Stephen and Ibrahim Ajasa.
