Exit Wave: Makinde’s Chief Of Staff, Ogunwuyi, Steps Down

Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned from his position, becoming the latest member of the governor’s inner circle to leave the administration in recent weeks.

In a resignation letter dated October 12, 2026, Ogunwuyi confirmed that his departure took immediate effect, bringing his tenure in the governor’s office to an end.

Reflecting on his time in government, the former aide expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Oyo State, highlighting his involvement in the administration’s efforts to promote the state’s growth, development and prosperity.

Ogunwuyi also conveyed confidence in the state’s continued progress, while reaffirming his commitment to Oyo State and Nigeria.

His resignation comes amid a wave of departures by political appointees linked to Makinde, with several aides reportedly leaving the administration over the past two months.

Ogunwuyi, a former member of both the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, is among the prominent political figures to have exited the governor’s team during the period.
