Ondo Air Crash: NAF constitutes 12-member investigation board

The Nigerian Air Force has established a 12-member board to investigate the October 5 crash involving its ATR 42 aircraft, NAF 931, in Igbokoda, Ondo State.

The board will investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident, determine its causes and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents.

In a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Force said Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, had ordered continued search and recovery operations alongside a comprehensive investigation.

Air Vice Marshal FO Ankeli will lead the investigation board, while Air Vice Marshal EOE Ebiowe, head of the Investigation and Recovery Team, will coordinate the wider response.

The panel comprises aviation and technical experts, alongside representatives of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau.

The investigation will cover technical, operational, environmental and human factors, as well as the emergency response and recovery efforts at the crash site.

The Air Force also announced a dedicated helpline and other support arrangements for the victims’ families, assuring the public that verified updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.

It warned against premature conclusions on the cause of the crash, saying appropriate safety measures would be implemented based on the board’s findings.
