As preparations intensify for the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant, Dr Wole Oluyede, has commended party members for ensuring a smooth and peaceful Local Government (LG) Congress across all 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
The congress, which was supervised by the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC), was aimed at electing grassroots officials to fortify the party’s structure ahead of the critical election cycle.
In a press statement issued by his media aide, Gani Salau, Oluyede lauded the dedication and unity displayed by party faithful during the congress.
“I commend you for the patriotic roles you have demonstrated in the course of the congress, which will go a long way to reshape our focus as a party,” Oluyede stated.
He emphasized the importance of sustaining the newfound unity as the party moves toward the next phase.
“It is on this note I urge you to continue to maintain the tempo of unity already established through our collective decisions as one indivisible family,” he said.
Looking ahead, Oluyede underlined the significance of the forthcoming State Congress, describing it as a critical milestone in the PDP’s journey toward reclaiming power in 2026.
“The forthcoming State Congress is crucial. We must get it right as we have been doing since the commencement of the congresses. With the right structure, we can confidently talk about winning the 2026 governorship election,” he added.
He also extended appreciation to the Eddy Olafeso-led LG Congress Committee for its effective coordination and to security agencies for maintaining order and peace throughout the process.
Oluyede called on stakeholders to remain steadfast in supporting the PDP’s mission to return to power in Ekiti State, stressing that unity and internal democracy remain the pillars of victory.
