DJ Cuppy Says She Wishes She Had Father Femi Otedola’s Business Acumen

Disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has said she wishes she possessed the business instincts of her father, billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, whom she continues to learn from.

In a LinkedIn post on Monday, Cuppy said she makes a point of having conversations with her father whenever he visits London, describing the opportunity to understand his thinking as invaluable.

“Whenever Mr Femi Otedola comes to London, I MUST pick his brain! Why do I think it’s important to understand how my dad thinks? Tbh, I wish I had his brain. Genius!” she wrote.

The DJ said observing her father’s growing investment in First HoldCo Plc had broadened her perspective on business, particularly the importance of creating value beyond financial returns.

“Watching him grow his investment in First HoldCo Plc has taught me that business isn’t just about making money, but creating value for others,” she said.

Cuppy also highlighted the financial group’s dividend policy, approved by its board in July 2026, which targets a minimum payout of 60 per cent of annual profit after tax to shareholders, subject to regulatory approvals.

She further praised her father’s confidence in the company, citing his investment of more than $450 million of his personal funds in its shares.

“What fascinates me even more is his confidence. He’s invested over $450 million of his own money in shares.

“Now that’s putting your money where your mouth is!” she added.

Reflecting on how her perspective has evolved with age, Cuppy said she increasingly values the thinking behind her father’s business decisions, describing herself as a willing student.

“The older I get, the more I realise that the REAL wealth is in the way he thinks. I’ll always be his student. Very happy to learn,” she wrote.
