NERC noted that the industry’s collection efficiency improved to 80.66 per cent in April, reflecting an increase of 1.07 percentage points compared to the previous month.
While revenue collection recorded an improvement, billing efficiency dipped slightly. The report showed that billing efficiency stood at 83.32 per cent, representing a decline of 0.57 percentage point from the figure recorded in the preceding month.
The commission also reported that the industry’s revenue recovery efficiency reached 82.11 per cent during the review period.
On average, electricity distribution companies collected ₦102.13 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), compared with the approved average electricity tariff of ₦124.39 per kWh.
Among the 11 electricity distributors, Eko Electricity Distribution Company emerged as the top performer in revenue recovery efficiency with 102.09 per cent, followed by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company at 89.77 per cent and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company at 88.89 per cent.
