Davido Celebrates ‘5IVE’ Album Release with Exclusive Fan Experience in Lagos

To mark the release of his fifth studio album, 5IVE, Afrobeats superstar Davido hosted an exclusive meet-and-greet in Lagos, bringing together a select group of superfans and media, in partnership with Spotify.

The intimate event offered a rare behind-the-scenes experience, with just 50 devoted fans and five media outlets granted access. Rather than issuing standard invitations, Spotify added a unique twist—requiring fans to earn their spot by passing a five-question quiz on Davido’s music, a true test of loyalty and knowledge.

Held in a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere, the event was hosted by the dynamic Ireculture, whose energy set the tone for the afternoon. SmallztheDJ kept the vibe alive with a seamless flow of Afrobeats hits, creating the perfect soundtrack for a day of music, conversation, and surprises.

True to form, Davido injected an element of showmanship. After initially teasing fans with a no-show, he made a dramatic surprise entrance that sent the room into an ecstatic uproar. The artist engaged warmly with attendees, sharing stories from his journey and reflecting on the inspiration behind 5IVE.

“When you see artists like Beyoncé, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Rihanna, you realise the level of dedication it takes to reach that height. With this album, I wanted to give it my all—and now, I’m seeing the results,” Davido shared.

As a parting gift, each guest received a curated gift box containing five fashion items from Nigerian streetwear label Severe Nature, the designers behind the official 5IVE merchandise.

Spotify also highlighted Davido’s surging global presence: over the past year, his music has been added to more than 12 million playlists worldwide. His listener base spans major markets including Nigeria, the U.S., the U.K., South Africa, and France, with 75% of his audience between the ages of 18 and 34.

With 5IVE already making waves globally, this exclusive event not only celebrated Davido’s latest project but deepened the bond between the artist and his dedicated fanbase—further cementing his place as a leading voice in the Afrobeats movement.
