Concerns over a possible resurgence of COVID-19 in Cross River have been dismissed by the Cross River State Government, which says no new cases have been recorded.
The state authorities insist that only one confirmed case exists, contrary to reports suggesting multiple new infections.
Health officials clarified that the situation remains under control, with no evidence of a wider outbreak.
Commissioner for Health, Henry Ayuk, explained that individuals referenced in the reports are part of routine contact tracing linked to the confirmed case.
He noted that they are not symptomatic and do not meet the criteria for suspected cases, but are being monitored as a precaution.
He added that the state has not recorded any additional COVID-19 cases and urged residents to rely on official updates while continuing to observe preventive health measures.
