Cristiano Ronaldo Extends Al Nassr Stay to Prepare for 2026 World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo, the legendary Manchester United forward, has finally revealed the reason behind his decision to remain with Al Nassr. The 40-year-old star striker explained that his choice was motivated by a desire to stay in peak physical condition for both his club and the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Ronaldo disclosed that although he received offers to participate in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, he ultimately decided to remain at Al Nassr. He emphasized the importance of rest and preparation ahead of what he expects to be a long and demanding season, especially with the World Cup scheduled at the end of it.

Following the signing of a new contract with Al Nassr, Ronaldo explained his rationale during a conversation reported by ESPN. He stated, “I had some offers to play [Club] World Cup but I think it didn’t make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, a good preparation, because this season will be very long, because this is the season of the World Cup, at the end of the season.

“So I want to be ready not only for Al Nassr but also for the national team. This is why I want to stay, because I believe in the project.”

The new contract will see Ronaldo continue at Al Nassr until 2027, reinforcing his commitment to the club and his goal of staying fit for the international stage.
