Bayelsa Queens’ head tactician, Whyte Ogbonda, has dismissed concerns regarding the current availability of his squad, asserting that the roster possesses sufficient reinforcements to maintain their high standards despite losing several prominent figures to international commitments. The “Prosperity Angels” are currently operating without five of their standout athletes, who have been called up to represent Nigeria at both the U-17 and U-20 levels.
Addressing the media regarding his selection strategy for the upcoming fixtures, Ogbonda emphasized that the coaching staff is fully prepared to optimize the talent remaining in camp. He underscored the importance of allowing the departed players to concentrate entirely on their duties with the national teams without the added pressure of club responsibilities.
“We will make use of what we have as we want the players on national assignment to relax and deliver for the country,” Ogbonda stated in a chat with the media. “We have enough qualities to execute the remaining fixtures and get a favourable result in the games.”
The manager further clarified that while the absent personnel are vital to the club’s long-term goals, he anticipates their return in time for the critical Super Six playoff tournament. His confidence is bolstered by the team’s strong performance throughout the campaign; Bayelsa Queens, alongside regional rivals Rivers Angels and Edo Queens, have already secured their positions in the postseason playoffs from Group A, even with three matches still to be played in the regular season.
