Buhari’s Remains Arrive Katsina as Tinubu Leads Delegation to Receive Late President

The body of former President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Katsina State on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of his burial in his hometown of Daura.

The remains were flown in aboard a presidential aircraft and received at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport by a high-powered delegation led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The solemn ceremony marked the beginning of final rites for the late leader, who passed away in London on Sunday at the age of 82.

President Tinubu, accompanied by several top officials, stood in quiet tribute as the casket bearing Buhari’s body was offloaded under tight security.

Also present at the airport were state governors, federal ministers, members of the National Assembly, and other senior government figures, all gathered to honor a man who ruled Nigeria first as a military head of state and later as a two-term civilian president.

Among those already in Katsina for the burial are former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

Buhari’s final journey will continue to Daura, his ancestral hometown, where he will be laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites later today.
