AY Accuses Blogs of Ignoring Cardiff Return After Criticising Cancelled Show

Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has criticised blogs and social media influencers for allegedly ignoring his return to Cardiff to fulfil his promise of a free show to fans.
AY expressed his frustration in a post on X on Friday, November 6, 2026, days after announcing plans to stage the free performance following the cancellation of the October 25 edition of his AY Live: Single and Not Searching UK tour.
The comedian accused online platforms of widely publicising the failed show without seeking clarification, but remaining silent about his decision to return to Cardiff.
“When AY didn’t perform in Cardiff, blogs and influencers carried the story everywhere without asking questions,” he wrote.
“Now I am in Cardiff to keep my promise with some personal sacrifices to the fans, and everywhere is quiet.”
AY further suggested that some critics were more interested in negative reports about him than in his efforts to make amends with affected fans.
“Just wait make GOD PUNISH AY miss that show tomorrow, the ring lights will start working again. Na only bad news dey give una satisfaction,” he added.
The comedian had earlier apologised after failing to perform at the Cardiff event, attributing the disruption to an unresolved payment dispute with the organisers.
He said the outstanding payment for his team’s performance had been due since September but remained unpaid, despite assurances that it would be settled before their arrival at the venue.
Following the incident, AY promised to return to Cardiff at his own expense to compensate fans for the missed performance.
He said he would adjust his flight arrangements and coordinate with his colleagues to organise a free show on November 7, 2026.
