Nottingham Forest players, staff and supporters paid tribute to Taiwo Awoniyi on Sunday as the striker prepares to join newly promoted Premier League club Coventry City.
Coventry have reportedly agreed a deal worth around £17 million for the Nigeria international, with the transfer expected to be completed before their league opener against Arsenal on Friday.
Awoniyi was given a guard of honour after four seasons at Forest as the club concluded their pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Stade Brestois 29 at the City Ground.
The 29-year-old joined Forest from Union Berlin in 2022 for £17.2 million, becoming the club’s record signing at the time.
He scored 23 goals in 103 appearances for Forest but lost his place in the starting order to Chris Wood and Igor Jesus and was omitted from the club’s Europa League squad last season.
