Atiku’s US Lobbying Firm Takes Tinubu’s 2027 Election Allegations to Trump Administration

A United States lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, L.C., says it has opened discussions with senior officials in President Donald Trump’s administration and members of the US Congress over allegations of political interference in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

The firm disclosed this in a statement published on its official X account, accusing President Bola Tinubu’s administration of attempting to use the Nigerian judiciary to influence the outcome of the next presidential election.

It alleged that the Federal Government was exerting pressure on the judiciary, citing what it described as documented concerns about corruption and political interference in Nigeria’s judicial system by the US State Department.

The lobbying firm also said members of the 119th US Congress were returning to Washington, DC, following the midterm elections, urging lawmakers and the State Department to pay attention to developments in Nigeria.

It warned that failure by US institutions to address what it described as attempts to manipulate Nigeria’s electoral process could damage their institutional credibility.

The statement follows a Federal High Court judgment in Abuja that nullified the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and invalidated decisions taken by the disputed leadership, including the party’s candidate selection process for the 2027 general elections.

The firm questioned the timing of the ruling, alleging that officials of the Tinubu administration held a meeting on Wednesday night, shortly after a major campaign rally by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar in Sokoto State.

It claimed that the court decision followed the meeting, although it did not provide independently verifiable evidence establishing a connection between the alleged gathering and the judgment.

The lobbying firm further linked the development to a proposed congressional investigation into Tinubu’s mining Memorandum of Understanding, claiming that Democrats in the US Congress were preparing to examine the agreement.

It warned that the alleged interference in Nigeria’s political and judicial processes could heighten political tensions and create instability, with potential implications for American interests and regional security.

Neither the Nigerian government nor the US administration’s response to the lobbying firm’s latest allegations was included in the statement.

The allegations come amid growing political and legal disputes within the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the court ruling against its David Mark-led leadership.
