At Least Seven Injured in Suspected Gas Explosion Outside Qom, Iran

At least seven people were injured in a gas explosion on Monday morning at a residential building on the outskirts of Qom, a holy city in central Iran, according to multiple Iranian news agencies.

The blast occurred at the Nasim Pardisan Residential Complex, prompting the rapid deployment of at least five emergency vehicles, said Dr. Mohammad Javad Bagheri, head of Qom’s Emergency Services, in a statement to the Student News Network (SNN).

A state-affiliated outlet reported that the explosion severely damaged four residential units, shattered windows in nearby buildings, and wrecked several vehicles. Police and firefighting units responded promptly to secure the scene and assist the injured.

Preliminary findings suggest the explosion was likely caused by a gas leak, though authorities have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause.

Images and video shared on social media reveal the extent of the damage, showing charred vehicles, scorched walls, and blown-out windows.

While no fatalities have been reported, several victims are said to be in serious condition and are receiving medical attention.
