Nollywood actress clarifies brief involvement in controversial chat, urges unity and focus on justice for late singer
Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has spoken out amidst the social media storm surrounding a controversial group chat involving several celebrities, clarifying her brief and unintended involvement.
In a post shared via her Instagram page, Okorie explained that she was added to the group by someone she knows, but exited promptly after discovering the conversation was not in line with her values.
“I left immediately. The moment I saw that it wasn’t about me or anything I cared about, I vacated the building,” she said.
The actress, known for her outspoken nature, emphasized her disinterest in unnecessary drama, stating that she is more focused on her personal and professional growth.
She also addressed speculations about her stance on the late singer Mohbad, noting that her support for justice has never wavered.
“Everybody knows I like Naira Marley; even during the whole saga with Mohbad, people were dragging me. But anybody who is human will definitely want justice for him,” Okorie said.
She added that the woman who added her to the chat later called and apologized for over an hour, realizing the misunderstanding her inclusion had caused.
Angela used the opportunity to appeal to her followers and the public to stop spreading hate and division, suggesting that the ongoing feud surrounding the group chat controversy can still be resolved peacefully.
“Everybody knows I love and respect Aunty Iyabo. Anything she does and invites me to, I always go,” she said, referencing actress Iyabo Ojo, who has also been linked to the online fallout.
The actress’s comments add to the growing conversation about celebrity involvement in online controversies and calls for justice for the late Mohbad, who died under controversial circumstances in 2023.
