Alcaraz Stuns Sinner in Historic French Open Comeback to Win Fifth Grand Slam

Carlos Alcaraz staged a stunning comeback to defeat Jannik Sinner in an epic French Open final, saving three championship points and rallying from two sets down to win a match that will go down as one of the greatest in Roland Garros history.

The 22-year-old Spaniard triumphed 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-6 (10-2) after five hours and 29 minutes, securing his fifth Grand Slam title and maintaining his perfect record in major finals (5–0). The victory also snapped Sinner’s 20-match winning streak in Grand Slam play.

Alcaraz’s remarkable turnaround marked the first time in his career he has recovered from a two-set deficit, and the match is now officially the longest French Open final in history—surpassing the previous record set in 1982.

With this victory, Alcaraz becomes the third-youngest man in history to claim five Grand Slam titles, behind only Björn Borg and Rafael Nadal.

For Sinner, the loss ended his pursuit of a third straight Grand Slam title, following his victories at the 2023 US Open and 2024 Australian Open. It was also his fifth consecutive loss to Alcaraz, who now leads their head-to-head 8–5.

This was the first-ever Grand Slam final between two players born in the 2000s, a symbolic clash of the new generation, and their first meeting at a major final.
