‘Agbara Nla: The Return’ Records N70m Preview Gross, Sets 2026 Nollywood Record

Faith-based Nollywood film Agbara Nla: The Return has recorded N70 million from 12,134 admissions during its preview screenings, according to Nigerian Box Office.

The film recorded the figure during preview screenings held between September 25 and October 1, with Nigerian Box Office describing the performance as the biggest single-day preview gross recorded in West Africa.

The box-office tracking platform also said the film’s 12,134 admissions represented the highest first-day admissions for a film in Nigeria in 2026.

Its N70 million gross was similarly recorded as the biggest first-day gross for a Nollywood title this year, while the film also claimed the highest single-day gross recorded in October so far.

Distributor The Nile Entertainment confirmed the figures, describing Agbara Nla: The Return as the biggest faith-based opener and the number one movie of the week.

The distributor said the film had crossed N71 million and was still recording revenue.

Agbara Nla: The Return is now showing in cinemas across Nigeria, 33 years after the release of the original film.

The new production is a modern reimagining of Mike Bamiloye’s 1993 Christian film, which was later released in English in 1994 as The Ultimate Power.

The story follows Muwonleru, a village controlled by a powerful herbalist, Isawuru. Two believers, Olaboye and Olatomi, leave the city to spread the gospel in the community, setting up a conflict between Christian faith and traditional authority.

Bamiloye reprises his role as Isawuru, while Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua Bamiloye directed the new production.

The cast also includes Aanu Kolade Abiodun, Remilekun Mosiko, Philip Olubakin, Gloria Mike-Bamiloye and David Kola Okeowo.
