“After Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Olamide, It’s Me” – Portable

Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has stirred reactions online after boldly declaring himself the fifth best musician in the country—placing himself directly behind industry giants Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Olamide.

Portable made the claim in response to a veiled comment from fellow artist Bella Shmurda, who said during a recent appearance on Curiosity Made Me Ask, a podcast hosted by Isbae U, that he couldn’t collaborate with Portable because he values peace and dislikes unnecessary drama.

The remark didn’t sit well with Portable, who fired back via Instagram with his now-viral declaration:
“After Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Olamide, I’m next. EMILOKAN.”

He doubled down in the video, asserting his musical prowess and daring critics to challenge him in any competition.
“I swear to God who made me, I can sing. You can challenge me to any competition,” he said, adding that fellow artist Barry Jhay is one of the few who share similar natural talent—crediting Barry’s musical inheritance from his father.

The self-proclaimed Zazuu crooner claimed he had carved out his path before anyone gave him a platform, saying,
“I discovered myself before they discovered me. I’m heavily talented and booming.”

Addressing Bella Shmurda directly, Portable said his music could be a source of inspiration:
“Bella, my songs can motivate your life. They can motivate you to success.”

He went on to describe Bella as a “failed artist” trying to stay relevant by name-dropping him in interviews.
“Don’t mention my name again. You can’t feature me? I’ve been to America, London. It’s not about who blew first, it’s about who’s still blowing,” he added.

The fiery exchange has reignited discussions around Portable’s place in the Nigerian music scene, a space where he has remained controversial, unpredictable, yet undeniably present.
