100 Days to 2027 Polls: INEC Convenes Stakeholders as Elections Draw Closer

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission is set to convene a national stakeholders’ meeting and World Press Conference on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, as part of activities marking 100 days to the 2027 general elections.

The engagement is expected to provide an update on the commission’s preparations, including the voters’ register, nomination of candidates, electoral logistics and measures being put in place to strengthen the credibility and integrity of the polls.

The event will be addressed by INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, alongside other key stakeholders in the electoral process.

The commission says the meeting is designed to strengthen transparency, improve public communication and promote closer cooperation among institutions and groups involved in the conduct and monitoring of the elections.

Participants are expected to include political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, members of the diplomatic community, development partners, civil society organisations, election observers, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth groups and senior media executives.

The meeting will be held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, bringing together major stakeholders as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
