Kunle Omisore Recalls Unusual Meeting With People He Described as Witches

Kunle Omisore, a Nigerian actor, has recounted an unusual encounter he says involved people he identified as witches.

Omisore shared the account during a recent episode of the African A-List podcast, where he discussed an invitation he received to help resolve a dispute.

According to the actor, a woman had accused him of damaging something belonging to her. He said he accepted the invitation to attend a meeting and explain his side of the matter.

Omisore said he told the leader of the gathering that he did not know the woman who made the allegation and denied causing any damage to her property.

The actor said the gathering left a strong impression on him because of the people he encountered there.

He recalled seeing several individuals at the meeting, including some carrying calabashes on their heads.

Omisore said the experience differed from the familiar depiction of witches in Nollywood films. He noted that the people he encountered did not have the painted faces often used to portray witches on screen.

Instead, he said, they were dressed in traditional Nigerian clothing, including iro and buba.

Reflecting on the experience, Omisore said it had given him a different perspective on how such characters are portrayed in films.

His account remains a personal recollection of the encounter and his description of the people he met.

The actor has featured in several Yoruba-language productions, including Laje Laje 3, a 2025 Nigerian drama featuring a large ensemble cast.
