China Warns of Retaliation Over U.S. Ban on Chinese Robots, Power Inverters

Beijing accuses Washington of abusing national security concerns and vows to protect its economic interests……

China has threatened to take retaliatory measures against the United States if Washington proceeds with restrictions on imports of new Chinese-made robots and power inverters, escalating tensions between the world’s two largest economies.

In a statement issued on Thursday, China’s Ministry of Commerce said Beijing would “resolutely retaliate” against any unilateral actions by the United States that harm Chinese interests.

The ministry also called on Washington to withdraw the proposed restrictions immediately, arguing that the measures unfairly target Chinese companies and products.

According to the ministry, the proposed import ban reflects discriminatory trade practices and an unjustified expansion of national security concerns into commercial policy.

The latest response follows the U.S. Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) announcement on Tuesday of new measures aimed at protecting America’s artificial intelligence infrastructure from perceived national security risks while supporting efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing in strategic industries.

Beijing said it had repeatedly raised concerns with U.S. authorities over the planned restrictions but accused Washington of ignoring those representations and continuing to tighten measures against Chinese technology firms.

The Chinese Commerce Ministry further alleged that the United States was using national security as a pretext to distort market competition and suppress Chinese businesses.

Describing the move as “market distortion and unilateral bullying,” the ministry argued that the restrictions undermine the interests of both Chinese and American industries and risk further straining bilateral trade relations.
