NAF Air Support Disrupts Suspected Kidnappers in Benue Operation

The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has disrupted the activities of suspected kidnappers during a coordinated operation in Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of Benue State, close to the Enugu–Benue boundary.

The operation involved close air support for ground troops targeting the criminal elements in the area, helping to advance the movement of surface forces and disrupt the activities of the suspected kidnappers.

In a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Air Force said the mission was successfully completed.

The NAF, however, said the pilot exercised professional discretion to make a precautionary landing about 10 nautical miles from the airfield while returning to base.

According to the Air Force, the precautionary landing was carried out in line with established operational and safety procedures following combat missions.

The helicopter has since returned safely to base.

The NAF said it would sustain pressure on criminal elements through coordinated air and ground operations, while providing support to surface forces and protecting vulnerable communities.

It added that the outcome of the mission reinforces its commitment to denying criminal groups freedom of action and supporting ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in affected areas.
