ID Cabasa Urges Christian Creatives to Embrace Secular Entertainment Space

Veteran Nigerian music producer Olumide Ogunade, popularly known as ID Cabasa, has called on Christian creatives to actively participate in the mainstream entertainment industry.
In a series of posts shared on X, the producer challenged the belief that the secular space is inherently ungodly or controlled by negative forces. He described the notion as misleading and said it has been used to discourage Christians from pursuing opportunities in the wider creative industry.
Cabasa argued that while sin and immoral behaviour may be associated with negative influences, the world itself belongs to God, and no sector should be off-limits to believers. He maintained that Christians have a right to operate and make an impact across all areas, including music and entertainment.
He further stated that the persistence of negative content in the industry is largely due to a lack of positive influence, urging Christian creatives to step in and help shape culture.
According to him, the presence of believers in the space can counter harmful narratives and promote more value-driven content. He also expressed confidence that the impact of Christian creatives cannot be overshadowed by opposing influences.
Cabasa cautioned against misinterpretation of religious texts, noting that individuals with limited understanding often distort scripture. He encouraged believers to carefully examine teachings and ensure they are grounded in proper context.
He also warned that some former adherents of the faith may use selective or incorrect interpretations of scripture to justify their actions or challenge the beliefs of others.
His comments have sparked discussions around the role of faith in entertainment and the place of Christian creatives within Nigeria’s evolving cultural landscape.
