A section of a storey building has collapsed in the Iyana Oloke area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, leaving one person feared trapped beneath the debris.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday,
Sources at the scene said two workers were inside the structure when the collapse happened. While one managed to escape unhurt, the other was reportedly buried under the rubble.
Officials of the Ogun State Fire Service, alongside residents and other emergency responders, are currently engaged in rescue efforts to extricate the trapped victim.
The incident has drawn a large crowd of residents and passersby, as anxious onlookers gather around the site awaiting further developments.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the collapse as rescue operations continue.
