Chelle Vows Super Eagles Will Play for Pride Against Congo in CHAN Finale

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has stated that his team will be aiming to restore some pride in their final group stage match against Congo at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Nigerian side has already crashed out of the tournament after suffering back-to-back defeats in their opening two fixtures — a narrow 1-0 loss to Senegal followed by a heavy 4-0 defeat against Sudan.

Reflecting on the team’s performance, the Malian tactician admitted that numerous errors were made in both matches but emphasized the importance of finishing the competition with a respectable showing.

“We committed too many mistakes in our earlier games, and though our journey in the tournament is over, we must return home with something positive,” Chelle said during a press conference.

The Super Eagles will face Congo on Tuesday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, with kick-off scheduled for 6 p.m. Nigerian time.
