Actor Michael Pitt Arrested in NYC on Serious Assault and Sexual Abuse Charges

Michael Pitt, known for his roles in Boardwalk Empire, Dawson’s Creek, and Reptile, has been arrested in New York City on multiple serious charges, including sexual abuse, strangulation, and sodomy.
According to court records obtained by Fox News Digital, the 44-year-old actor was taken into custody on May 2, 2025, at Kings County Supreme Criminal Court in Brooklyn. He is facing two counts of first-degree sexual abuse, in addition to charges of assault with a blunt object, third-degree sodomy, and second-degree strangulation.
Pitt has pleaded not guilty to all charges. His bail was set at $100,000, which he has since posted. According to TMZ, the actor has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 17.
As of now, Pitt’s representatives have not issued a public statement in response to the charges.
In a statement to Variety, Pitt’s attorney, Jason Goldman, strongly denied the allegations, calling them “baseless.”
“Unfortunately, we live in a world where someone like Mr. Pitt—an accomplished professional who would never even consider such crimes—can be arrested based on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual,” Goldman said.
“The reality is that this accusation was raised suspiciously, four to five years after the alleged incident, during a time when the relationship between the parties was entirely consensual and voluntary. This case will be dismissed.”
The case is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the legal proceedings continue.
