104 Soldiers Missing After Terror Attack – Nigerian Army

More than 100 Nigerian soldiers have been declared deserters after allegedly abandoning their duty posts in Borno State following a deadly terrorist attack.

According to an internal military signal,  the 104 soldiers, attached to the 162 Amphibious Battalion along the Mandara–Buratai Road, went missing with their service rifles after suspected ISWAP fighters attacked their base on June 5.

The Army had earlier confirmed that five soldiers and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed in the attack.

The document says military formations nationwide have been directed to arrest the affected personnel if found, while their bank accounts have reportedly been frozen pending their apprehension.

The Nigerian Army has yet to issue an official statement on the development.
