Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur Waris Olayinka Akinwande, popularly known as Ola of Lagos, has explained why he continues to live in a rented apartment despite owning multiple houses.
Speaking on a recent episode of The KK Show, Ola said he has never slept in any house he purchased with his own money because he believes owning his home could make him too comfortable.
According to the luxury influencer, remaining a tenant gives him an added motivation to keep working and pursuing bigger goals.
“I have never slept in any house I bought with my own money. If you do, you will become too relaxed,” he said.
Ola said he continues to live in rented apartments despite owning property and currently spends ₦50 million annually on rent.
“Despite being in a beautiful estate, I still live in rented apartments and pay rent. When I pay 50 million naira a year, I use that pain to keep grinding harder,” he added.
The influencer’s comments have drawn attention to his unconventional approach to property ownership, choosing the pressure of annual rent as a motivation to maintain his work ethic despite having houses of his own.
