Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that his administration will continue to use every lawful means to tackle banditry, criminality and other security threats.
Mutfwang spoke on Sunday at the 2026 Plateau Annual Convention of the General Council of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, North East Zone, held at the church’s Jos District Headquarters in Gyel, Jos South Local Government Area. The convention was themed, “Breaking Barriers into Your Next Level”.
Acknowledging the security challenges confronting the state, the governor said his administration was working with security agencies to strengthen measures against perpetrators of violence and restore lasting peace.
He said, “I cannot abandon my responsibility of securing the people of Plateau State. We will protect our people with all that we have, within the ambit of the law.”
Mutfwang also called for unity among citizens and urged Christian leaders to promote peace, reconciliation and harmony. He said his administration remained focused on improving residents’ welfare and changing the negative narrative about Plateau State.
Earlier, the former General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria commended the governor for his commitment to protecting lives and property, while North East Zone Executive Council member Rev. Jacob S. Langs thanked him for his support for the church and community.
The convention ended with a donation by Mutfwang to support widows, empower youths through entrepreneurship and strengthen the activities of the gathering.
