“We Were Paid Only N10,000 Daily to Campaign for Tinubu in 2023” – Actor Lalude Reveals

Veteran Nollywood actor Lalude has opened up about the financial struggles he and fellow campaigners faced while supporting President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.

In a candid interview that has been trending on social media, Lalude expressed regret and frustration over the hardships experienced after Tinubu’s victory. He disclosed that he campaigned alongside colleagues for nearly two months without proper compensation.

According to Lalude, they were given a mere N10,000 daily—intended as a feeding allowance—while campaigning. He added that this amount was initially higher but was later reduced once campaigners started saving the money. On some days, the payment was withheld altogether for two to three days.

“They gave us only N10,000 daily for feeding. It was supposed to be more given the campaign effort, but they decided to cut it down. When they found out we were saving the money, they reduced the amount, and sometimes didn’t pay us at all for two to three days,” Lalude explained.

He went on to lament that after dedicating a month and three weeks to the campaign, they have still not received any rewards or recognition nearly two years into Tinubu’s administration.

“After all the work we put in, they refused to pay us. Those responsible for withholding our rightful benefits will never be fortunate in life,” he warned.

Lalude’s revelations come shortly after fellow actor Alapini expressed similar regrets about campaigning for Tinubu alongside hundreds of others.

This controversy arises two years after the 2023 general elections, where several Nigerian celebrities—including Saheed Balogun, Bimbo Akintola, Toyin Abraham, Eniola Badmus, Olaiya Igwe, and Seyi Law—publicly declared their support for Tinubu.

The decision sparked backlash on social media, with many fans unfollowing these celebrities and criticizing their support amid growing economic hardship and insecurity under the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
