WAFCON 2024: Zambia’s Nachula Says Team Is Fearless Ahead of Nigeria Clash

Zambia midfielder Rachael Nachula has expressed confidence in her team’s readiness ahead of their high-stakes encounter against the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Copper Queens are set to face the tournament’s record holders on Friday, in what promises to be a fiercely contested match.

Zambia secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nigeria the last time both nations met—during the third-place playoff at the 2022 edition of the competition, also held in Morocco.

Their current form heading into the knockout stage is impressive, having picked up two wins and a draw during the group stage of WAFCON 2024.

Looking ahead to the showdown with Nigeria, Nachula made it clear that the Zambians are undaunted by their opponent’s reputation.

“We are not scared of any team. We can’t be afraid of Nigeria. All we need to do is stick to our coach’s instructions,” she told Brila FM.

With confidence running high in the Zambian camp, Friday’s fixture is shaping up to be a thrilling contest between two in-form sides.
