Uzor Arukwe’s Manager Admits Frustration With Actor’s ‘Igbotic’ Roles

The manager of Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe, Mautin Tairu, popularly known as Mr M, has admitted sharing fans’ frustration with the actor’s frequent “igbotic” roles, explaining that business considerations often influence the team’s decisions.
Tairu made the disclosure while responding to an X user, R. Ekpedeme, who called on Arukwe to take a break from such characters, citing the actor’s frequent shouting in his performances.
“Uzor needs to leave the igbotic roles for a while. I need a break from the shouting,” the fan wrote.
Responding to the comment, Tairu acknowledged that he had also felt that way at some point but said commercial considerations sometimes take priority over his personal preferences.
“As his manager, I’ve felt the same too at some point. However, business decisions take precedence over my personal preferences,” he said.

Tairu explained that the character type appeared more frequently in Arukwe’s YouTube productions because of audience preferences on the platform.
He added that the actor’s cinema projects did not feature the same repetitive character type.

His comments offer insight into how audience preferences and commercial considerations can shape casting and performance choices in Nollywood productions.
