Tyla Makes History as First African to Host Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

South African music sensation Tyla is set to make history as the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. The announcement came on Thursday, as organizers revealed the host and full list of nominees for the 2025 edition of the show.
The Grammy-winning star will take center stage when the event airs live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
In addition to her groundbreaking role as host, Tyla has also earned two nominations: Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for her hit “Show Me Love” with WizTheMc and bees & honey.
Leading this year’s nominations are Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga, each scoring four nods. Close behind are Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black, with three nominations apiece.
Reacting to the news on social media, an excited Tyla posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“I’m really about to host the Kids’ Choice Awards.”
With this milestone, Tyla continues to break new ground and solidify her place as a global icon.
