Troops discover, detonate two IEDs along Pulka-Firgi Road in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army have safely detonated two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) allegedly planted by suspected terrorists along the Pulka-Firgi Road in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a post on X, citing security sources who said the explosives were discovered at about 9:30 a.m. on October 21.

The devices were reportedly found by troops of the 192 Battalion (Motorised), operating under the 26 Task Force Brigade and deployed at the Forward Operating Base in Pulka.

Following the discovery, the troops deployed an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team to the scene, where the devices were safely detonated in situ to prevent possible casualties and damage to property.

No casualties were reported in the account of the incident.

The discovery underscores the continuing threat posed by improvised explosive devices along roads in Nigeria’s North-East, where suspected terrorists have used explosive traps to target security personnel and civilians.

The Nigerian military has continued to conduct security operations in the region aimed at detecting and neutralising threats, protecting road users and preventing attacks on communities.

The latest incident highlights the importance of sustained surveillance and vigilance along major routes in Borno State, particularly in areas affected by insurgency.

Residents and motorists are advised to remain alert and promptly report suspicious objects or activities to security agencies, while avoiding any attempt to touch or move suspected explosive devices.
