President Bola Tinubu is hosting Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Presidential Villa, in their first known meeting since the governor’s re-election.
Adeleke arrived at the Villa at about 5:25 p.m., days after securing victory in the August 15 governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
He polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 444,815 votes. Adeleke won by a margin of 66,252 votes, securing victory in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.
Tinubu had earlier called to congratulate Adeleke on his victory, describing the outcome as “a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our country”. The President also urged the governor to unite Osun residents regardless of their political choices.
Also at the State House were Adeleke’s campaign council Director-General, Senator Lere Oyewumi; council member, Sunday Bisi; Chief of Staff, Akinleye Kazeem; and House of Representatives member, Bamidele Salam.
Adeleke’s victory followed his decision to contest under the Accord Party, amid political developments within the Osun chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The meeting with Tinubu is therefore attracting political interest, coming as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It also comes amid the President’s ongoing engagements with political leaders and stakeholders as preparations for the 2027 political season gather momentum.
