TCN announces power outage in Akwa Ibom for transformer maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled power outage in parts of Akwa Ibom State due to maintenance work on its 60 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) power transformers at the 132/33kV Uyo Transmission Substation.

In a statement released on Tuesday, TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah explained that the outage, set to occur between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, will affect areas including Abak, Ikot-Ekpene, Afaha Ube, and Idoro.

Mbah noted that the maintenance is essential for the safety of TCN’s engineers while they work on the transformers. As a result, there will be an interruption in bulk power supply to the Port Harcourt Distribution Company (DisCo), impacting electricity distribution to the affected areas.

“The power interruption is necessary to ensure a safe working environment for our engineers while they perform the maintenance work. TCN assures all that the bulk power supply will be restored immediately upon completion,” Mbah said.
