Spain Prosecutor Seeks Jail for Ancelotti over $1.1 mln in Unpaid Taxes

For allegedly evading taxes on image rights earnings of one million euros ($1.1 million) during his tenure as Real Madrid’s coach in 2014 and 2015, Carlo Ancelotti faces a four-year and nine-month jail sentence from a Spanish prosecutor.

The Italian was a tax resident in Spain at the time and filed his tax returns there, but he had failed to include the money he received from his image rights, according to a statement released by the prosecution on Wednesday.

When Real Madrid reached out to Ancelotti for comment, the coach returned in 2021, although he did not respond right away.
