Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has singled out Barcelona as the standout side in LaLiga so far this season.
Simeone made the remarks after leading Atletico to a 2-1 derby victory over 10-man Real Madrid on Sunday, a result that leaves Jose Mourinho’s side six points behind league leaders Barcelona.
Dean Huijsen was sent off early in the second half before Alejandro Grimaldo and Jonathan David struck for Atletico, while Antonio Rudiger scored a late consolation for Real Madrid.
Simeone told ESPN, “It seems Barcelona are playing a different sport from the one we’re playing.
“They didn’t have a number 9 striker, then Raphinha showed up and scored 12 goals. And Yamal, if I’m not mistaken, scored 7.”
