Big Brother Naija star Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz, has broken his silence on his highly publicised breakup with fellow reality star Bella Okagbue.
In a lengthy statement shared on X, Sheggz denied allegations that he was abusive or unfaithful during their relationship, saying he decided to speak after keeping quiet for months.
The reality TV star said his silence was influenced by his respect for his family and his personal approach to dealing with private matters.
However, he said he felt the need to respond to claims that could affect the reputation he had built over the years.
“I am not an abuser. For clarity, I did not cheat on Bella, and I have been single since January 2026,” Sheggz wrote.
Sheggz recounts difficult 2025
The BBNaija star described 2025 as a particularly challenging period, revealing that he spent considerable time in hospital before travelling to England for further treatment and recovery.
According to him, he returned to Nigeria in October 2025 and subsequently came across information that caused him to question the level of honesty in his relationship.
Sheggz said he had previously given the relationship several opportunities for certain issues to be addressed, claiming that he had sought clarity since 2024 but did not get the answers he expected.
The relationship, which began after the pair met during the 2022 Big Brother Naija: Level Up season, lasted almost four years before they went their separate ways in January 2026.
‘I genuinely wanted the relationship to work’
Sheggz said the couple made attempts to reconcile but ultimately struggled with issues surrounding trust and respect.
He also revealed that he had considered marriage, saying he bought a ring because he believed they could build a future together.
“I genuinely wanted the relationship to work. I even went as far as purchasing a ring because I believed in the possibility of a future together,” he said.
The reality star acknowledged that two people can care deeply about each other and still reach a point where continuing the relationship is no longer the right choice.
He also said he understood that Bella’s family could have a different perspective on the events surrounding their separation.
Sheggz calls for a peaceful end
Despite the controversy surrounding their breakup, Sheggz said he had no intention of engaging in a prolonged public dispute with his former partner.
He said his priority was to move forward peacefully while maintaining respect for Bella and the people connected to her.
“I have no desire for hostility or public back and forth,” he said, adding that he wished Bella well and hoped everyone involved could eventually move on with grace.
Sheggz and Bella became one of the most closely followed couples to emerge from the BBNaija Level Up season, with their relationship continuing to attract public interest long after the show ended.
