Sharon Adeleke, sister of Nigerian music star Davido and daughter of billionaire businessman Deji Adeleke, has offered her perspective on the financial realities of children born into wealthy families.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Moraya Show, Sharon said the financial support available to children of millionaires and billionaires is often different from the unrestricted access to cash that some people assume they have.
She acknowledged that such children have advantages that many others do not, including access to education, land and other properties.
However, she said parents may expect them to turn those assets into sources of income rather than simply provide unlimited spending money.
“A lot of Nepo babies don’t really have access to cash the way you guys make it seem. They have more than the average person, but they are always on a budget. Your school fees are paid, you are given land and properties, but you have to make use of them,” she said.
Sharon monitors Davido’s spending
Sharon also spoke about her relationship with Davido, saying the siblings hold regular financial meetings to review how he spends his money.
According to her, the meetings take place weekly and are intended to keep track of the singer’s finances.
“Me and Davido would sit and have a finance meeting every week because I think it is important for him to know how his money is being spent,” she said.
She added that she has encouraged the singer to reduce his spending on additional luxury cars.
Davido’s reported $11 million Bugatti
The disclosure comes shortly after Davido said during a livestream with streamer Davrel that he had paid $11 million for a custom-made Bugatti.
The singer said the vehicle was expected to be delivered to Nigeria.
Sharon’s comments offer a glimpse into how financial management is handled within her family, while challenging the assumption that wealth automatically means unrestricted access to cash.
Her remarks also come amid wider public interest in the spending habits and lifestyles of Nigeria’s wealthy families and celebrities.
