SDP Denies False Reports of Uba and Gombe’s Appointment to NWC

Social Democratic Party dismisses claims of Ugochukwu Uba and Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe’s appointment, calling the reports misleading.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has rejected reports claiming that Ugochukwu Uba and Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe were appointed as members of its National Working Committee (NWC).

In a statement released on Saturday, the party clarified that both individuals are not registered members of SDP, making their purported appointments invalid. Chief Arinze Ekelem, the party’s National Vice Chairman (South-East), addressed the media, refuting the claims.

Uba, who was reportedly named National Deputy Chairman (South), was not listed in SDP’s official register, according to the statement. Similarly, Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe, who was alleged to have been appointed Deputy National Chairman (North), is also not a registered member of the party.

The SDP condemned the misleading reports, which it claimed were fabricated to sow confusion within the party and urged its genuine members and the general public to disregard the false information.

“The South-East zone of the SDP completely rejects the claim that Ugochukwu Uba has been appointed as the National Deputy Chairman (South),” the statement read. “These reports are false and misleading, and we affirm that neither Uba nor Gombe are registered members of our party.”

The party also called for accurate reporting and assured its supporters that any updates on party leadership appointments would be communicated through official channels.
