Rapper M.I Expresses Regret Over Supporting APC: “Not the Party of My Dreams”

Ace Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I, has openly admitted that backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) was a mistake.
The acclaimed ‘African Rapper No. 1’ revealed that he threw his support behind the APC in 2015 because he believed the then-ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was deeply corrupt. However, he now acknowledges that the APC has fallen short of his expectations and isn’t the party he envisioned.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Menism podcast, M.I reflected on the criticisms he received after speaking out about the herdsmen attacks in Benue State:
“I tweeted about the attacks in Benue, and many people reminded me, ‘But M.I, you supported the APC.’ Yes, I supported the APC because, at that time, I felt the PDP government was very corrupt. I was among those who raised their voices for change and democracy.”
“But as human beings, no matter how much we strive to be right, we can be wrong. Unfortunately, APC isn’t the party of my dreams.”
He added that his focus now is on leveraging his talent and platform to unite and inspire young people towards building a better Nigeria.
