Former Coupe de France Féminine champions Paris Saint-Germain have dismissed head coach Fabrice Abriel following their 2025 final defeat to Paris FC, led by standout Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, on Saturday.
Nnadozie emerged as the star of the show in the final, saving two penalties to secure Paris FC’s first Coupe de France Féminine title in 19 years. Her crucial interventions were instrumental in the win and ultimately proved to be the breaking point for PSG’s management, who relieved Abriel of his duties on Monday.
This loss added to a string of setbacks during Abriel’s inaugural season at the helm. The campaign had already started poorly, with PSG failing to progress beyond Champions League qualifying in September. Compounding the issue were persistent reports of internal discord between Abriel and some of the team’s marquee players.
For Nnadozie, who is rumored to be leaving France at the end of the season, the victory was a fitting culmination of another exceptional campaign.
“The journey was tough but the trophy was worth it. A dream come true,” she shared on X.
“Thanks to everyone who supported. I give God the glory.”
Meanwhile, the top tier of French women’s football is set to kick off its decisive play-off stage this weekend, with the top four clubs entering a knockout bracket to determine the league champion.
Paris FC are once again set to face PSG, with the winner likely to meet dominant side Lyon in the final. With Abriel gone, PSG now face uncertainty over who will manage the team in Sunday’s pivotal play-off match as they aim to secure just their second league title in history.
