FCT Minister Nyesom Wike dismissed as overblown a newly announced effort by opposition figures—including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar—to forge a coalition aimed at unseating President Tinubu in the 2027 election
Speaking at the same commissioning event, Wike said Tinubu’s visible delivery of projects had effectively “killed” any such coalition before it could gain real traction.
“Your good work has killed the coalition,” Wike told Tinubu, asserting that the opposition’s campaign to present a united front was already defeated
He emphasized that voters would gravitate toward leadership that produces tangible results, rendering political posturing ineffective.
The FCT minister also thanked the president for granting the FCT administration a ten-day window to complete commissions and demonstrate achievements
This rhetoric highlights a growing narrative in governing circles: that effective governance and infrastructure delivery should trump political alliances in shaping electoral outcomes.
For opposition parties, it raises questions about how to regain ground.
