Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election, describing the outcome as a sign of democratic maturity.
Adeleke of the Accord Party won the August 15 governorship election with 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. ADC candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday in Umuahia, Otti commended the people of Osun for the peaceful conduct of the election despite some reported irregularities.
“The peaceful conduct before, during and after the election, in spite of some observed irregularities, is a testament to the maturity of our democracy”, Otti said.
He also praised INEC and security agencies for their roles in creating an environment for the election, while acknowledging other stakeholders who contributed to the process.
Otti urged Adeleke to use his second term to deliver people-centred governance and sustain peace and development in the state.
“As you start your second tenure in office, I encourage you to remain focused on delivering people-centred governance that improves the lives of Osun people”, he said.
The Abia governor wished Adeleke wisdom, good health and strength as he continues to serve the people of Osun State.
