As Osun State prepares for Saturday’s governorship election, the Imole Campaign Council has demanded strict neutrality and professionalism from the police and other security agencies deployed for the poll.
The council’s spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said in a statement that security personnel must comply with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to protect voters and electoral officials while ensuring a peaceful and credible election.
Olajengbesi stressed that security agencies must guard polling units, protect voters and arrest anyone attempting to disrupt the process, irrespective of political affiliation.
The council also called on National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to ensure full compliance with the presidential directive, warning that intimidation and political interference must have no place in the electoral process.
It urged Osun residents to turn out in large numbers and vote for their preferred candidates, while expressing support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election bid.
